The rooms were spacious, and we loved the giant breakfast spread each morning. The hotel is surrounded by nature. We easily walked to the Moorish Castle and Pena Palace, both fine sights worth visiting.
We found out the location is on a steep hill. Walking back after a long day can be a bit of a workout, so be prepared for that!

The location is great, just a short walk to major attractions. The outdoor space is lovely and private. Great to have 24/7 coffee and tea nearby!
The breakfast starts a bit late for early risers like me. I thought I was being punished! And did I mention the confusing signage? I nearly got lost a few times!

The location was peaceful, for example, Quinta da Regaleira Palace was a 10-15 minute walking distance from the hotel. The restaurant was good and the breakfast was plentiful with cheeses, fresh fruits and delicious Portuguese hams.

Marvellous location for all the main sites with views of the castle.

The breakfast was almost lovely, but cold coffee? Really? The staff seemed to think it was acceptable to sit family at my table without asking. I heaved a pathetic sigh when the overly squeaky bed reminded me every time I moved that I deserved a better stay. I almost gave a good review but just couldn't.

charming historical mansion, fine views of the Moorish castle, comfortable outdoor patio
Very small windows that feel prison-like!!! Shower curtain leaking water everywhere!!! The noise from neighboring rooms can make sleep challenging!!! Could use more attention in terms of cleanliness and upkeep of older furniture!!!

Couples seeking charm and tranquility
The breakfast spread was scrumptious , with fresh pastries and fruits that filled us up each morning. We even got tips from the manager which led us to some fine sites nearby, including a amazing hike with views that were to die for.
It wasn't exactly wallet-friendly, but worth every penny.
